Kung Fu Panda 3 -Learn to be more you. 熊猫 ( xiongmao / xióngmāo )

Talk about not judging a movie by its title, I really like Kung Fu Panda, and I just watched Kung Fu Panda 3 and enjoyed that too. The moral of the story is that you learn, so that you can discover yourself and be more you. You don't learn to become someone else. Anyways, it's a good moral and as an adult, I learned a lesson.

Vomit 呕吐 [ǒu tù]

Last night, I picked up my husband from a holiday work party.

When he called for the pick up, I knew he was massively drunk. I listened for the slurred address and scribbled it down. Then I zoomed to the car.

On the phone, he sounded drunk. Drunk enough to vomit. I don't mind my husband over-drinking occasionally, but when he pukes, it's the worst. It's not the grossness that I mind. It that when he pukes, he tends to do it in bed, and he tends to be asleep.

Many years ago, I woke up to my husband choking on his vomit. I recall quickly getting up and rolling him on his side. It saved his life, and the whole experience was vaguely traumatic.

If that happened once, I'd think it was a freak accident, but a few years after that, it happened again. Now whenever he gets that drunk, I worry that he is going to fall asleep face-down and choke. I about a horrible disaster and a terrible waste of his life.

I drive and daydream about all the bad things. When I get there, my husband is no where to be found. So, I call him.

I find out that he is wandering around the streets, and he is at some intersection that I don't know about. Somehow I convince my husband to come my way. I see my husband, and he is so drunk that he can barely walk on his own. It turns out that the 3 drinks he thought he was going to be allotted had somehow had turned into 7 drinks. He explains that there were aerial dancers at the party, pouring champagne.

It's 1 am, and I drag him to the car. Once in the car, he can't buckle his seat belt. So, I help him. He rolls down the window and keeps his window down. He knows he is going to be sick. I instantly regret not bringing water.

I drive carefully because I'm worried about cops and drunk drivers. Though secretly, I'm hoping that my husband will puke in the car. Ideally, outside of the car and not in front of a cop. I drive and take the corners a little sharper than I should, while at the same time driving safe. I want my husband to puke.

A few blocks away from the house, he starts puking, and if it was someone else, I would have pulled over. Though since it's my husband, I want him to puke it all out, so I continue driving ast if nothing is happening. I pat his pat, hoping to ease the discomfort a little bit. I think about how I'm a terrible citizen and wife for letting him puke like this. Though in the end, I want him puking so that he won't choke later.

We get home. I park the car but have trouble moving my husband. He is a big guy and nearly passed out on his vomit. I get help from a housemate and by dragging his feet out of the car. I convince him that he wants to get up. I move him into the house, he is barely able to navigate the stairs. I get him to take off his clothes, and I try to get him into the shower. But it's not happening and the slippery walls of the tub are too difficult for him to navigate anyway. I was him off quickly with a wet towel. He still kinda smells like puke but is mostly clean.

I get him to bed and try to get him to drink water, but he won't have it. I think about how much he is going to suffer the next. He instantly falls asleep. I make sure he is on his side.

I go and clean the car. My husband managed to puke mostly outside of the car, and I can't be more than pleased. I wipe it off with towels and scrub it with soap and water. Mat takes pity on me and helps me do all this. Eventually, I want to go to bed, but I placed Sam onto of most of the blankets and don't want to bother him.

Also to be honest, the bed smelled like vomit. So I slept next to mat, had nightmares and then checked on Sam. I went to bed around 3am, woke up at 6am, went back to bed at 7am, woke up at 10:00am, went back to bed. Had nightmares.

So, today I'm all messed up. Sam was hung over, and I felt like I was hungover too. So, I took a break from life today.

vividly vivacious 朋友 ( pengyou / péngyou )

This post is about Vic because she is awesome and always have been.

I just had a dinner with her at Oddfellows, and now that I'm back at home, I miss her terribly. Our time together was brief and awkward. Though, when it was time to say our good-byes, I was sad to see her go.

What do I like about Vic? She's prim and proper on the outside, and on the inside, she's a beast. She's wild, free and loves profanity.

We originally met in college. The night I bonded with Victoria was during the notorious naked run. It was my first year of college, and I didn't fully participate. I only participated half-way. Well, on the naked run, I found another woman who was as excited about the nakedness as I was, and that woman was Vic. Ever since then, I've been loyal to her.

It was from her, that I started having a greater appreciation of the natural world. She had a plant named 'Fergus'. I had a plant named 'Aloe'. Her plant lived. My plant died.

Although Vic likes to be treated like she's a delicate flower, she's incredibly tough. I recall once, I accidentally surprised her near the bathroom of our dorm. She had just come out of the shower and was only wearing a towel. Instead of running away, which is what I do, she planted both feet and charged. If she hadn't recognized it was me at the last minute, she would have beaten the living shit out of me.

She's sturdy and curvy in all the right places, and she's beautiful. When she dresses, her outfits say, "you can buy me a drink, but you can't take me home". She's artful, feminine and has good taste in fashion.

She is also compassionate and sensitive. When I had nightmares, Victoria would let me sleep next to her. When I was depressed, she would cheer me up. When I came to her with a problem, she would think of ways to fix it.

When she developed a crush in college, I advised her and actively plotted for her. At a party, I told friends about her plight, and explained that someone as beautiful as her can always start a relationship, if only you can get her to sleep next to the object of her affections. When the party ended, Victoria had to sleep over. It was arranged so that, the only bed available was one that had to be shared with her crush.

Looking back on that, what I did was fucked up. I'd never do that now. However, that cold calculation worked. A relationship was brewed from the crucible of that bed, and now after all those years, the pair are on the verge of marriage.

As time went on, Victoria became my roommate, and for a short while, she was even my housemate in my current house. Victoria didn't like aspects of communal living, and she expressed those feelings privately. When Sam moved to Washington, Victoria and her boyfriend stayed behind, much to my despair.

The couple's actions were reasonable, but the house took offense. The split was awkward and fraught with arguments over personal possessions. Whenever someone leaves the communal house, they are generally not welcomed back. I find this reaction frustrating, idiotic and imbecilic. It permanently damages valuable relationships, and despite my efforts to smooth tensions, a veneer of estrangement permeates.

However, communal living takes sacrifice, and I pray that one day emotions in the house will soften, so that I can bring my old friend over. Until then, I'll stew and hope for better days. Because a friend like that, is impossible to replace.

Here is to an impressive lady.

Happy Birthday Mr. S!! : 生日 快乐

I know you'll never see this, and normally I don't give a crap about people's birthdays. But today you're in luck because I wish you a Happy Birthday.

Even though I'm not at your party, I'm wishing you a savage birthday; one that is filled with friends, love and a wicked good time.

Out of the whole Geek and Gamer crowd, your the only person who made any sense. In this fucked-up world, the intensity of your personality is the only rational reaction.

You have a heart of gold and a mind made of diamonds. On this day, I wish you well, even though I'm not your closest friend.

I hope that some day, I will really get to know you. For now, I'll stand back and watch.

May your words never die, and I'll keeping reading http://signalsfillthevoid.com/ because it gives me so much to think about.

Thank You.  -Your Awkward Friend & Fan
